Feature in August 2024 issue of "BRAIN"
Brain is a specialist magazine for creatives published by Sendenkaigi.
Its occasional "Book Jacket: Senses" feature is made possible through
collaborations with creators using fine paper.
Each issue of the magazine that features this popular project includes
a book jacket/cover made with a different type of fine paper.
Nobuya Hayasaka appears in the August 2024 edition.
The paper she uses is SPLENDOR LUX VS-FS.

The August issue of Brain is now available at bookstores nationwide.
The title of the work is “Queen / King”
The queen and king from a deck of playing cards are each rendered with one, simple line on vivid red or lustrous black paper. The book cover is designed to have the appearance of the industrial products of Europe, incorporating paper from Italy, the uniformity of cast-coated paper, and the strong color of glossy colored paper. The white lines are rendered prominently with foil stamping, and the solid white is UV offset printed with a double bump of white. The hearts, spades, clubs, and diamonds symbols of playing cards are rendered with a three-dimensional feel in the corners using debossing. Using SPLENDOR LUX VS-FS, which is based on colored paper, and making maximum use of the fact that the back and edges of the paper are colored enabled the creation of a high-quality book cover with a strong presence.
