This is my first solo exhibition in six years. Returning to where I started, I decided on “stencils.” A stencil is something you use to copy a character or image by laying down a pattern from which the character or image has been cut out and tracing around the cutout. For this project, I used gray NT RASHA paper, which I came across while thinking about the warmth we feel as we get deeper into autumn.
I hope you enjoy the beautiful graphic art, with each piece possessing its own individual character thanks to using stencils. This is combined with the delightfully thick paper’s warm feel and texture, resembling woolen fabric, which gives the paper a distinctive richness that has been much loved since its launch in 1949. Studied design from her uncle Ikko Tanaka from the time she was a student at Musashino Art University. Handles a wide range of projects, including designing graphics, products, fonts, books, and book covers. Actively shares the beauty of paper with others through handicraft workshops using paper.
