[Aoyama MIHONCHO] Showcase
"AOYAMA CREATORS STOCK 21 Norito Shinmura Exhibition--PAPER NET"
November 1st, 2022 (Tue.) – November 2nd, 2022 (Fri.)
Except: Saturdays, Sundays, and official holidays
Open hours: 10:00-18:00
Posters I made for Shinmura Fisheries in 2019 depicted octopuses and salt-water eels in nets.
For this exhibition, I aimed to create a three-dimensional version of these posters.
Nets are some of my favorite motifs. I have photographed stingrays swimming in the water with nets,
and I have used nets as design patterns on shopping bags. Since nets are important for fishing,
fishermen make sure to mend and repair them after the catch if they have been ripped.
It may be my memories about nets and fishing that are the reason I am so fond of nets.
For this show, I decided to reproduce nets with paper. I used MERMAID to create the nets
I made using laser cutting. I also created octopuses and salt-water eels using FINE FLUTE
materials to swim within the nets. I hope you enjoy these paper nets that are delicate,
unlike real fishermen’s nets. (Norito Shinmura)
