Work: Origami Shikki (external website for DESIGNART TOKYO)
Origami Shikki was designed based on the concept of combining familiar origami techniques with the traditional Japanese crafts of washi paper and lacquerware. Origami Shikki is an innovative expression of Japanese traditions, created by mixing these traditional elements with our design sense and the modern lifestyle. We received inspiration from three traditional elements familiar to Japanese: origami, a traditional technique of folding one piece of paper into various shapes; lacquer craftsmanship, a traditional kogei craft unique to Japan that has been passed down since ancient times; and washi paper, a traditional material produced at many sites throughout Japan.
