Paper has undergone many changes in shape and use since its invention in China over two thousand years ago,
but it remains an integral part of our lives. To explore why people find paper so appealing,
TAKEO collaborated with Designphil—a company with a mission to help enrich society and culture —to produce
products directly from pulp sheets, the material made from plant fiber that is the basis of paper manufacturing
Using pulp sheets made from different raw materials, such as pulp from conifers and broad-leaved trees,
we have created cards and jewelry that bring out the inherent appeal of the material
before it undergoes further processing.

Pulp sheet is a natural material that conveys the feel of the vegetation it was made from.
Use it for writing down straightforward, uncomplicated thoughts and messages.

This exhibition is a great opportunity to touch and personally experience the appeal of this material.

About pulp sheets

Pulp sheets, which are used as a raw material in paper manufacturing, are sheets made from pulp obtained from plants.

- NBKP: Needle bleached kraft pulp is made from conifers. It has long fibers and is used to make paper that is strong.
- LBKP: Leaf bleached kraft pulp is made from broad-leaved trees. It has shorter fibers than pulp made from conifers, and is used to make paper with a pleasing texture.
- Linter: Linter pulp is made from the short fibers (cotton linters) that are one of the types of fiber extracted from cotton.
- Bagasse: Bagasse pulp is made from the fibrous residue (bagasse) that remains after extracting sugar from sugarcane.
- Bamboo: Bamboo pulp is made from bamboo.
