MERMAID has been a popular fine paper for many years.
Possessing a wavelike feltmark that recalls the gentle waves of a sea where mermaids live,
MERMAID was the first feltmarked fine paper produced by machine in Japan, launched in 1956 as MERMAID RIPPLE.
MERMAID’s lineup of colors and specifications will be updated in September 2019.
To better fulfill customer needs, the renewal will result in a contemporary lineup of
60 colors—including 30 new colors—that suits the feltmarked paper, together with
a more convenient selection of weights.
Overview of the update
- A lineup of 60 colors, including 30 new colors
- All 60 colors available as 1091 x 788 mm S/G in three weights: 128 gsm, 178 gsm, and 279 gsm.
- Additional options for white paper—939 x 636 mm paper size and thin and thick papers
New color concept
The color palette of 60 easy-to-use colors consists of five themes—innocent, organic/Japanese, POP, formal, and classic. Colors are being added that customers have been asking for in recent years, including colors with very pale tones, high brightness colors with a tinge of blue, grays with nuances of color, variations of pink, and neon colors.
In the lead-up to the renewal, colors, weights, and sizes of some current-specification Mermaid products are limited to our current stock. Please see the following documents for details.
The new colors are scheduled to become available on September 2, 2019.
Please keep an eye out for the new MERMAID.
