  • PAPER TORCH is back on sale

PAPER TORCH is a ‘flashlight’ made from paper containing electrically conductive ink.
Improvements in performance since its launch in March 2017 result in a new,
easier-to-use model that goes on sale in July 2018.

PAPER TORCH

PAPER TORCH is a flashlight made from paper printed with electronic circuits using electrically conductive ink.
It has been developed jointly by nendo design studio, Elephantech Inc.,
which manufactures flexible printed circuits using printed electronics, and Takeo Co., Ltd.

Adjustments can be made to the flashlight by changing how the paper is rolled,
since changing the length of the LED circuits modulates electrical resistance.
Rolling the paper loosely produces dimmer light, while rolling it more tightly produces brighter light.
Rolling the paper so that the LEDs are inside forces the light to pass through the paper,
producing warmer light and giving the flashlight the ability to produce two different colors.
Rather than concealing electronic circuits within the paper, they are integrated with the paper as a printed circuit design.
