This autumn marks the hosting of the 9th TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR, an art-centered book and publication festival unfolding within the heart of Tokyo. From our new venue in Tennozu Isle, this year we welcome a diverse congregation of over 350 different exhibitors – featuring publishers, booksellers, galleries, artists, and more – making their way from both within Japan and across the globe.
Joining forces with shops and galleries located in the nearby vicinity, this year’s TABF reaches proportions it has never yet achieved.

Through a wide variety of book-signings, lectures, and other events, this year’s Fair works to portray the allure of the art book by way of a multifaceted approach.
The special project “Guest Country,” dedicated to exploring the book-publishing culture of a certain region, serves as one such endeavor; this year, the project focuses attention on four Asian countries making waves in the art book scene.
The Fair also brings exhibitions and events in connection with the “Steidl Book Award Asia,” first established last year in Asia by the German publisher Steidl, along with “Steidl Book Award Japan,” its Japanese counterpart; an exhibition bringing together books bound by Tadanori Yokoo; a talk show commemorating 80th anniversary of Shiseido’s culture magazine HANATSUBAKI; and much more.

This year’s Fair is also replete with special exhibitions and events brought to us by a variety of galleries, stores, workshops, and other participating establishments – including six galleries located within the TERRADA ART COMPLEX: the Kodama Gallery | Tennoz, YAMAMOTO GENDAI, KOSAKU KANECHIKA, SCAI PARK, URANO, and the Yuka Tsuruno Gallery. Other exhibitions and events unfold within NEIGHBOURS, a nearby facility in Tennozu – featuring the photography-centered exhibition space IMA gallery, the lifestyle option store SLOW HOUSE, the Architecture Model Workshop, an atelier specializing in architectural models, and much more. Concessions and refreshments will also be on sale at the banks of the nearby canal, while we will be providing a lounge space for our visitors to relax at. We invite fair-comers to come see for themselves this four-day long celebration of art and culture, brought to life throughout the entirety of Tennozu Isle, the new hub of Tokyo’s art scene.
